After much anticipation, the 2009-10 NBL schedule has been released with 8 teams across Australia and New Zealand set to do battle for the championship. After a positive learning experience in a moderately run 2008 season as official team wear and merchandise partners of the Gold Coast Blaze and Wollongong Hawks, Game Gear are in discussions with other NBL teams to partner this season. We will shortly announce the teams who we will partner for the 2009-10 NBL season, so stay tuned for the release of all the latest licensed products from Game Gear in the coming months!

The 2009 ABA championship season is in full swing and Game Gear is proudly partnering programs in this season’s competition. In the countries toughest conference, Victoria’s SEABL, the Inspiration Launceston Tornadoes have matched it with the counties best women’s teams and are looking for a spirited effort in the 2nd half of the season to progress to the post season. In the North the Maroochydore Clipper’s men and women have made great starts to their QBL campaign. The Clipper’s and Game Gear enjoy a long standing partnership and we wish all teams the best of luck in ABA competition this season.

Game Gear has thrown its support behind the African Lions basketball program, sponsoring the team with all playing and training uniforms for the 2009 season. The vast majority of Lions players are refugees, brought to Australia under humanitarian programs often after enduring unimaginable horrors and hardship. After hearing of their story and witnessing the Lions passion for the game, Game Gear director Luke Jenkinson approached Lions coach David Yohan to offer Game Gear’s support to the program.

The Lions are now competing in their new uniforms and all 60 players are practicing in their Game Gear Reversible’s. Game Gear is proud to be associated with the African Lions and wish them the best of luck for the 2009 Basketball QLD League.
